If you're on a budget and don't require a stroller that can double as a car seat carrier the Babyzen Yoyo is a good option. It has a simple, one-step foot brake that's flip flop comfortable.

It's also easy to push and feels solid when navigating kerbs or woodland pathways. It's also a breeze to fold.

1. Babyzen YOYO2

The Babyzen YOYO2 has earned itself a reputation as the most lightweight cheap single buggy for jet-setters and city dwellers alike, due to its super nimble manoeuvrability and foldable design that can be tucked away in the overhead luggage of an aeroplane. This latest version boasts independent suspension on all four wheels, made of Hytrel Elastomer, which allows it to effortlessly navigate across all types of surfaces and terrain'.

The frame's base YOYO2 frame along with the curved fabric bassinet and six-month color pack combine to make a stylish and elegant pushchair that's easy on the eye and has a subtle but elegant aesthetic and tasteful branding. The base frame alone weighs just under a kilo and is so light that you can easily lift it out of the box (and do it using one hand).

It's also easy to add or remove attachments or adaptors - the hood, for instance, snaps on to the YOYO2 with reassuring clicks - as well as being machine washable at 30deg to remove staining from rice cakes smushed and half-dissolved carrot puffs. It can be used as a pram from birth with the Newborn Pack or bassinet, or converted into a single stroller cheap from 6 months using the YOYO Connect additional chassis.

2. Evenflo Pivot Xplore

The Evenflo Pivot Xplore is a great option for parents looking for a versatile single stroller with standing board wagon. It transforms from a stroller into a wagon by simply flipping the handle, so parents can choose the option they want to use on their journey. The wagon can hold one or two children from 6 months to 5 years old, and it has a wide storage basket that can accommodate everything you need on the go.

The Xplore also features dual canopies that rotate from the front to the back, offering ample sun protection for all family members. It also has a footwell, which is not as large or deep as some wagons, so it may not be suitable for longer trips or napping.

The frame of the Xplore feels solid and sturdy but it doesn't have the same flexibility as other wagons we have tested. It is also more difficult than other wagons to fold and it's not able to lock tight when folded. It is easy to move however, and fits through doors with a width of 28 inches.

3. Delta Children LX Side-by-Side

This Delta Children bare-bones travel stroller is a great choice for parents who are looking for a second stroller that is affordable. It earned an eye-catching score in our Strollers and Multiples test for weight and folded size which means it's lightweight, small when collapsed and easy to lift into a trunk of a car or closet. It also offers the option of reclining in multiple positions and a parent cup holder. Other features of note include 360-degree shock-absorbing front wheels and two large storage bags that hang from the ceiling.

In our test of push and turn it performed better than many of the other strollers of a similar price we tried, but it's not the easiest to maneuver on uneven terrain or through narrow doors. The sunshades on it were among the smallest strollers we tested. They only cover the top of the stroller and do not feature peekaboo windows. The UPPAbaby G-Link 2 and Zoe Twin+ have larger canopies.

It took us under 3 minutes to assemble the Delta with a standard manual. All of the components required tools. But, it's lacking some critical features we believe you should consider non-negotiable in a double stroller for example, a larger basket and reclining seats with adjustable leg rests.

4. Maxi-Cosi Zelia 2-in-1

The Zelia is the latest model in Maxi-Cosi's range of pushchairs and is billed as an urban travel system. It can be used from birth to around 3.5-years-old. The seat and carrycot can be converted easily with a few clicks. It is compatible with Maxi Cosi capsule car seats. It comes with a lightweight Mico 30 infant seat, a stay-in car-base and a reversible car seat.

The seat can be reclined with one hand and the large shopping basket makes it easy for parents to get their child in and out. The narrow pushchair sailed through all day bumps and doorways easily.

The front wheels can be locked in a forward position or allow them to rotate which is helpful when traversing rough terrain. We let the front wheels to swivel during our walk on the stony path. It handled this reasonably well, even though it felt to be a bit rougher.

5. Baby Jogger City Tour 2

Baby Jogger is a household name for their all-terrain, 3-wheeler jogging pushchairs, but they also make a good selection of 4-wheel strollers. The City Tour 2 is one of their most sought-after models. It is simple to fold and fits easily in the trunk of a car even with the carrycot attached.

It is heavier than the other strollers we've test, but since it comes with rubber composite wheels it feels sturdy and well-made. It is easy to maneuver over different terrains and even with two children with shopping bags and other items.

The seat and carrycot both come with hoods with pull-down sun canopy extensions that are UV50+. They are durable and waterproof, unlike other hoods for prams that can be blown back into toddlers faces.

It doesn't have a lot of storage space, but it does have a large, deep basket to hold a change bag or a large amount of groceries. You can also pair it with a Baby Jogger car seat for infants that weigh up to 20 pounds (car seat and adapters are available separately). If you require a stroller that can be taken on the road, then the City Tour 2 is an excellent choice.

6. Nuna Mixx Next

Nuna Mixx was a stroller that captured the hearts of many parents when it first came out. It's a stroller made of aluminum which can be used from infant's earliest days through. It has a number of notable features, including the possibility of flipping the seat between parent and world-facing, a large UPF 50+ canopy, a flip out eyeshade, a spacious basket and adjustable handlebar.

The chassis is equipped with a built-in suspension system which reduces the impact of bumpy terrain. The wheels are constructed from tough foam and minimise punctures. It was easy to push, and our tester was able manoeuvre the vehicle through narrow streets.

It locks automatically and folds in just four steps. It also stands and can be rolled around for easier transportation in the boot of your car or down the stairs at home. It also comes equipped with the ability to include a car seat or carrycot using the adaptors that come with it. The brakes are easy to use using a cheap single pushchair action color coded and flip-flop compatible.

7. Babyzen Duet

This budget-friendly pushchair is simple to operate and features an excellent dual suspension. It can be folded using just one hand, and comes with a handy carrying strap. It's also super lightweight and durable. The seat can be reclined to many different positions. It also comes with a double breathable mattress that is suitable for infants.

The canopy/seat comes with two extra-large fixed or flip out sun visors. Both are UPF50+. However, the toggle closure isn't great it's not as quiet as Velcro and could wake sleepy babies.

The Duet is a angled stroller that can accommodate twins or siblings. (Up to 22kg per seat). It is compatible with two infant car seats and can be used with carrycots. In twin mode the seats can be positioned to face each other or can be turned around to face their parents, potentially decreasing sibling fights over who gets to sit with mom and dad. It comes with a huge tray for gears, a bottle holder and snack tray. It also comes with an automatic frame lock as well as a compact fold.

8. Baby Jogger Urban Glide 2.

The Thule Urban Glide 2 is a jogger that's ideal for parents who love to be active. It is one of the lightest strollers for running that you can purchase for your child. It also comes with great safety features, like the 5-point safety harness and wrist safety straps. It also has a twist hand brake that's different from the lever type found on competing models.

The seat is very comfortable and offers a large area to sit. However the seat's depth is smaller than that of other joggers (it's only about 10") The storage bin is secured with a zipper to keep things secure. It can hold up to 10 pounds. This is enough for most diaper bags.

The Urban Glide 2 isn't compatible with bassinets or infant car seats in the way it is, however you can use it from the beginning with the purchase of adapters to most seats from brands like BOB, Graco, Combi, Evenflo, Britax, and UPPAbaby. It's easy to fold and assemble in just 5-10 minutes with no tools. The instruction manual is easy to read and contains a variety of languages.
