Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

Item upgrade, also known as "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment increases the stat linearly.

Players can recycle six items at once to gauge the upgraded component of each item. The cost of recycling an item varies with its rarity and level.

Upgrade components

In Guild Wars 2, an upgrade of an item can be a method to increase the stats on your weapons and armor. This can be achieved through a variety of methods, including by using upgrade components or by increasing an item upgrading's rarity or mark level. Additionally to this, many items can be reforged, which can increase their stats.

Upgradable items can be found all over the game, both in the world and as rewards for missions. Players can also make them. The primary method to upgrade equipment is by making use of upgrade components which are items that can be slotted into equipment. The majority of equipment comes with slots to upgrade, and many require a certain amount of upgrade. Certain upgrade components offer specific bonuses, while other components offer an overall bonus.

There are several types of upgrade components available in the game, such as universal upgrades, inscriptions, and jewels. The universal upgrades, such as gemstones and enchantments, can be placed on any equipment and offer lower bonuses than equipment-specific upgrades. Glyphs are only available in gathering tools. They offer a variety of bonuses, ranging from increasing the speed of an item's gathering to providing extra crafting material.

Select the item in your inventory, then open the Upgrade window. The window will show a preview on the right side of the screen showing what the expected stats are after the upgrade, as well as any required components or materials. If you do not have enough of either, the Upgrade button will be marked as Blocked.

The amount of upgrade components needed for a particular item is displayed in the upper-right corner of the Upgrade window. The cost of upgrading increases as the level and rarity of the item increases. However, you can reduce the cost by purchasing upgrades from a merchant, or trading them with other players.

The majority of weapons can be upgraded by adding a prefix, like a rune or an insignia, and others can be upgraded by adding the suffix. These upgrades change the name of the item, adding an adjective, like "Radiant" or "Minor vigor. There are some exceptions, however. the noninscribable wands, shields and foci from the Prophecies and Factions campaigns, that cannot be upgraded using any kinds of mods in any way.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to convey visual information. They are animated to grab the viewer's eye and stimulate curiosity. The animation of glyphs resembles body language, making them more effective in communicating the message across linguistic barriers. Glyphs also evoke a sense of familiarity in the brain, which increases retention of the message.

Each glyph can increase a stat's value by a certain range. This is displayed on the item when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This is the maximum value that a glyph could improve a stat by and not the amount it actually increases it by. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the quality and tier of the item you're enchanting it to.

The majority of upgrade components that are slotted into items are not able to be replaced or salvaged without removing the gear in question, with the exception of legendary equipment and upgrades. If, however, you have an unusable rune or glyph that has not yet been added to your gear, you can move it to a different piece equipment by using the Upgrade Glyphs context menu on the Glyphs panel. This will create the new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.

If you are looking to remove a glyph from an item, you will need to save it using an Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. The item on which the glyph is located will be destroyed, but the upgraded item can be recovered by removing the glyph fragments.

Adding a glyph to an item can cause it to become unstable, and the shards of that glyph will disappear from your inventory once you remove the item. You can also place an inscription to your equipment to increase its value. Deferred Damage, for example, can store damage and be distributed slowly to the wearer rather than all at once. This is helpful for players who take many hits from enemies, but do not want to be overwhelmed.

Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens are used to alter the affixes of weapons and equipment. They can be obtained from many sources, such as mystery boxes, rare drops from skulled monsters, or by killing bosses. Each reroll token gives players a new random affix, which is typically superior to the original. Reroll tokens are also a good method to reroll the stats of a weapon and can be upgraded for better damage or other perks.

Rerolled items don't appear on the menu for upgrade options, however they are still able to be upgraded. Rerolled items can be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button which alters the appearance of the window and allows up to six items to recycle. The level gauge is boosted by recycling an item upgrader. The amount is determined by the rarity of the item and its level, which means items with higher levels are more valuable to recycle than lower-level ones.

Players can also make use of Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to reroll weapons to upgrade units. Rerolls roll a percentage chance of a weapon's traits. If it rolls higher, the weapon is upgraded. If it rolls lower, the weapon remains unchanged. Weapons can be repeated up to three times.

Rerolling is an excellent way to upgrade an item. However, players should be aware that the total ilvl will be diminished by the number of that it took to reroll it to the final level. This effect is most evident on rings and Diadems, since they have no other options to increase the ilvl.

The Reroll system has been criticized by players as being too expensive, and it would be more equitable to let players pay for it with money or a food item that would allow them to change their build without spending too much time and effort. The developers have no plans to implement paid rerolls at this stage in the game's development. Instead, they plan to include a race change potion in the near future.

Leveling

There are a number of ways to boost the value of an item upgrade. The first is to increase the upgrade amount which boosts the upgrade value of a given stat. The second option is to increase the effect of the upgrade, which can increase the healing or damage for the stat. In addition you have the option to upgrade the base item to a higher upgrade type. After this, the new item will maintain its iLevel however it will be upgraded with the effects of the upgraded type of item.

When you upgrade items, it is important to remember that upgrades are not guaranteed. In most cases the Best item upgrade roll will be derived from glyphs, but there are also chances for higher or more special rolls. The iLevel also changes according to the upgrade path and base level. For instance an item upgraded from being a rare or unique item to an outstanding one is likely to gain the Enhanced Defence of the new base item.
