WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boosts in specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the item level by +3. Each upgrade also boosts a random substat.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the Item level Upgrade is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.

You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current item level of the item being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that are used to upgrade weapons and tools, armor and accessories. Players can purchase them from NPCs of item level upgrade upgraders for a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be applied to any weapon or tool using an button, which will display a preview of the item upgrade at the next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot of the item upgrades and the current item level. For example, weapons will cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

Upgraders for items can be found in many places including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and a possibility of obtaining the latest recipe. The upgrade items discount increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or quests.

The new currency system isn't difficult to use, but it brings some changes to the upgrade process. For example, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change lets players upgrade their gear to the highest possible level on all of their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests wisely, as they only have one use. For instance it's best to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests with the best equipment available and then save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning on making. This is particularly applicable to rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character, that will be able to benefit from the account-wide discount when all of the slots are full of high-quality gear.
