The Roborock Q7 Max is a powerful robot that has smart mapping and app-based no go zones. Its run time of 180 minutes is impressive. It also automatically refills and self-empties its water tank.

1. Roomba j7+ iRobot from iRobot.

The Roomba J7+, IRobot's most advanced best affordable robot vacuum to date is the Roomba j7+. Its most notable innovation, however, is its camera-based obstacle-detection system. It uses AI to detect objects like charging cords and shoes. It's also the first to automatically send you a picture of any object it encounters so you can tell it to avoid it in the future.

The Combo j7+ is also the most effective mop-bot we've ever tested, removing dirt and spills with ease and leaving no trace that it was there. The iRobot app makes it easy to control. You can schedule cleanings, and also create Keep Out Zones to ensure it doesn't vacuum in areas you don't would like. It's compatible with Alexa or Google Assistant so you can start and stop it by voice.

The design is also better than the competition. It has a sleek, top piece that appears like toys rather than a loud and obnoxious robot. And the Clean Base Automated Dirt Disposal System is best self cleaning vacuum-emptying, which is great to speed up cleaning.

In our tests, we found that the j7+ was quick to eliminated dirt, dust and hair from pets. The counter-rotating rubber brushes kept the debris in one location rather than sending it scattering across the floor. It was able capture small gravel, sand and even a bit of grit. The majority of robots cannot accomplish this feat. And all this without getting tangled up in our pet's shedding hair.

The j7+, though not as intelligent as the $1,217 Roomba S9+ Self-Emptying Vacuum from iRobot, and isn't able to clean the stairs, is a good option for those who require both mopping and a vacuum. It's not too expensive and the iRobot App makes it simple to use.

The iRobot Home App is easy to use but we found it less reliable than other robotic cleaner apps. It can take a while to download updates and it can be difficult to determine if they are functioning until you actually witness them in action.

2. Roborock Q5+

If you are looking for a robot vacuum cleaner that does more than just clean your floors, a hybrid is the best robot vacuum cleaner option. This kind of robot usually comes with a built-in tank for water, meaning they can both vacuum and mop your home at the same time. They also come with a variety of additional features, such as smart mapping, small obstacle avoidance and even the ability to dry and wash mopping pads. The downside is that they tend to be expensive when purchased at full retail, but on Black Friday and Cyber Monday they usually drop in price.

Roborock produces several of our top robotic vacuums and the Q5+ doesn't disappoint. It's their cheapest auto-empty model, and while it's not equipped with some of the features you'll find on higher-end models (like no-go zones and multi-story memory) it's still a great choice if you're willing to compromise a bit in order to save a few hundred dollars.

The Q5+ is exceptionally gentle when it comes to obstacles such as walls and table legs. This makes it an excellent option for homes with a lot of furniture. It is also very thorough in cleaning up dust bunnies. This is a area where many robot vacuums that are less expensive fall short. The Q5+'s navigation is excellent, with few misses along walls or in corners.

The Q5+, just like other Roborock products can be controlled via a few buttons on the device or through the Roborock App. The app allows you to start and stop cleaning. You can also set schedules, create virtual barrier and no-go areas and adjust your home map, or change the room's label.

If you choose the Q5+ it includes a new auto-emptying dock that's designed to make the robot easier to maintain. Installing it requires a screwdriver however, once it's in place emptying the bin is done easily. It features a large LCD screen which is helpful for setting up schedules or adjusting settings. This feature isn't required for most people but it can help easily keep track of the robot's maintenance schedules.

3. Narwal Freo X Ultra

The Freo X Ultra is a well-rounded robot vacuum cleaner best buy mop and vacuum that's incredibly smart in both its mopping and vacuuming capabilities. Its design is one of the top in the market, but it's expensive.

It's a small base station that looks great and can be hidden when not in use. But the station's main selling factor is its ability to automate many tasks and functions that other robots leave up to you. It can keep clean and dirty water, and then electrolyze and heat the water. The majority of other robots require you to perform this.

And its vacuuming is impressive and efficient, too. It's one of the only robovacs that I've tested that does very well at cleaning up debris from plain floors, and is not as loud as the more expensive Roomba 980 or iRobot 900 series.

However, the Freo X Ultra has its faults, especially in terms of navigation. Its laser and LiDAR sensors aren't as reliable as other robovacs. This means it can get stuck or confused in certain areas of your home. It's also not able to climb stairs as well as other models and doesn't come with a docking station to create a clean zone for carpets that are soft.

Although it doesn't have the same amount of cleaning configuration options in its app or as many shortcuts in the app as other robovacs, the Freo X Ultra is still an excellent choice for anyone looking for an all-around great mop and vacuum cleaner that's worth the premium price tag.

However, if you're looking to save some money, or just don't care about the limitations of this robot there are many other options available, including a lot of eufy models for significantly less. The eufy Qrevo Curv, for example is less expensive and offers a similar in-app experience with more features like stair climbing, a full-function dock, and better overall performance when vacuuming floors as well as high- and low-pile carpets.

4. eufy RoboVac G30

eufy is an Anker company that has a history of producing robot vacuums that offer the perfect combination of features, performance and price. The G30 Hybrid offers a powerful cleaning on carpets and hard floors, as well as mopping capabilities at a reasonable price. It's easy to set it up, just attach one of the side brush and turn it on, then connect your charging dock. The app guides you through several steps to connect to your Wi-Fi. After that, the G30 is ready to go. It is recommended to keep the dock close to an outlet for power and ample space for it to move around however.

The G30 is a compact device, measuring 2.85 inches in height, which means it is able to be placed under most couches and low-clearance pieces of furniture. The design is less ostentatious than some rival models, with sleek black finishes and three buttons that are physical such as Auto Cleaning start/pause, Recharge and Spot Cleaning (which scrubs an area in spiral patterns for 2 minutes). You can also connect the G30 to Amazon Alexa or Google Home for voice commands to perform routine cleaning tasks that are not scheduled.

The most important feature that distinguishes the G30 apart from most competitors is the method it cleans. It uses a built-in mapping to create an image of non-movable objects that are in its path while retaining what it's cleaned and what it isn't able to access. When it's time to recharge, it will automatically return to its starting point and begins cleaning where it left off.

The sleek G30 has some flaws. The iRobot Roomba is more durable and has lower recurring costs. It charges faster, offers the same battery life and performs better on bare floors or low-pile carpet. It has a larger dust bin that does not require as much emptying. It also comes with border strips that block it from certain areas. The G30 is less expensive and easier to maintain. Its smaller container means it doesn't need to be emptied as often and has less trouble with bulky materials like cereal.
