WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost in certain stats. Each upgrade increases the item level by +3. A random extra substat is also increased with each upgrade.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the item has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item upgrading used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks, to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.

Upgrades can cost more based on the item level, however they'll always be cheaper than buying new equipment. For example upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item from another player will cost 105.

Crests can be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.

The new currency system isn't difficult to use, but it does bring some changes to the upgrade process. For example, once an item reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This is to allow players to get their equipment up to the highest level possible on all their characters, instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests with care, since they have only one purpose. For instance it's a good idea to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests with the best equipment you have and keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning on making. This is particularly relevant for trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to take advantage of the account-wide discount when all slots are filled with high-quality gear.
