Path of Exile Item Upgrades

Often times however, upgraded Common and Magic gear is outclassed by Rare-grade gear because of their higher requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades are a form of upgrade that can be applied to weapon and armor items. They boost the stats of whatever item they are connected to. Upgrades to armor are available in the game's world and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. They can also be salvaged using a specialist or higher salvage kits to retrieve upgrade components from items.

The amount of damage that a piece of armor or weapon will absorb is contingent on the level of its upgrades. A piece of armor upgraded to its highest upgrade level will boost the damage it absorbs. It is important to keep in mind that this will increase the weight of the armor, therefore it must be heavier.

There are many different kinds of armor upgrades that are available in the game. Each one has a distinct impact. For instance, some upgrades will grant the armor a certain number of additional health points, while others make it lighter and stronger. The type of armor upgrade that an item upgrader kit can receive will be identified by the name of the upgrade, as indicated in the table below.

Like other upgrade components jewels are able to be swapped with another jewel of the same kind without damaging the original one. You can only replace the jewel only once in a piece of equipment.

It is typical to use more gems for aesthetic reasons. In addition to enhancing performance, the diamonds create an area that is stronger than steel, so the repeated friction with pivots doesn't cause harm as easily.

A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs that can enhance the look of your shields and weapons. These glyphs provide a small boost and can be freely exchanged, however they are not guaranteed to be available as loot. Trinkets

They are also available from vendors and by the completion of road interactions. They can be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.

The first trinket a player is able to unlock is the cloak. It grants a small, but valuable boost to speed of movement and evasion. The player can then collect necklaces, rings, and amulets in a similar manner as they did with weapons and armor. Every piece of equipment has an upgrade slot which can be universal or jewel. Universal upgrades offer fewer benefits and can be placed in any type of equipment, however, jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded and only works with certain types of trinkets.

These trinkets also grant additional buffs and skills that remain active whenever the hero is not fighting. This lets the hero perform better when they are not active and also helps to compensate for the absence of a solid team or any slots from the talent tree which would normally be filled with the hero's ideal stats.

A good rule of thumb for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you won't be replacing soon, followed by any items with desirable stats that are less important than the iLevel of the item upgrading being upgraded. This is especially true if you are looking to upgrade multiple statistics on an item. It's better to upgrade one important stat than two less important ones.

Jungle players often upgrade their yellow trinkets to a red one at the start of the game. Mid and top players on the other hand they will select a pink or green ward, depending on the game's matchup. These choices will have a major impact on the hero's ability to control his map.
