Cyberpunk 2077 Item Upgrading Guide

Item upgrading is a key element to maximize your gearing potential. It allows you to add bonus stats onto the value of your item's base level.

Each upgrade template comes with a set options which can be changed through the GUI. These options include upgrading reference and upgrading chance.

Upgrade components

The method of upgrading armor, weapons and other equipment in Cyberpunk 2077 has been revamped as part of the 2.0 update. Upgrade components can be found throughout Night City, and the item that you want to upgrade must have an upgrade slot. When you select an item to upgrade the game will display an overview of what the expected stats will be after upgrading, along with the required component or material needed. If you don't have the required resource or component to upgrade the item, the button will show "Blocked."

The items that can be upgraded include weapons and armor, a few trinkets, and gathering tools. The upgrade slots on each of these can be filled with different upgrades that provide attribute bonuses or extra effects while the equipment is being used. These upgrades can be obtained by crafting, purchased from a seller, or obtained as rewards.

There are two kinds of upgrades of gemstones and universal upgrades. Universal upgrades are similar to gems and can be utilized in any type of equipment.
