Path of Exile item upgrading Upgrades

Sometimes, however upgraded Common and Magic gear is often surpassed by Rare-grade gear because of their higher requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades can be applied to both weapon and armor items. They improve the performance of the item they are attached to. Upgrades to armor can be found in the world of games and are available from Blacksmiths on bonfires. Alternatively, they can also be rescued from items with upgrade components inside them, with a professional or higher salvage kit.

The amount of damage that an armored piece or weapon will absorb is contingent on the level of its upgrades. The upgrade of an armor piece to the highest upgrade level will boost its damage absorption. It is important to note that this will increase the weight of the armor, which means it should be heavier.

There are a variety of armor upgrades available in the game. Each has a different effect. For instance, some upgrades give the armor a certain number of health points while others will make it stronger and lighter. The name of the armor upgrade will indicate the type of upgrade that an item will receive, as shown below.

A few upgrades also feature magic or a mix of technology and magic, which is shown by a "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Some upgrades also require charges in order to be used. These are indicated as "Charges" entries in the table. The charges for these upgrades are updated daily or never expire depending on the upgrade.

Iron Ore is the cheapest method to upgrade your armor. You can find it by exploring and looting small loot chests. Certain upgrades, such as the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be applied to high-level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide significant increases in stats and are worth the cost.

The player should be aware, however, that upgrading a piece up to the maximum upgrade level will increase its defense value. However, it will also affect the speed and agility of the piece. It is not recommended to upgrade armor past +9. The boost in defense usually isn't worth the weight and power costs of the upgrades.

Weapons

Jewels

All levels of jewels can be made at the Jeweler however, there are some exceptions to this, such as the rare and legendary gems that require you to be at a high enough level to qualify for them. Jewels can be replaced with another jewel without destroying the original. You can only replace the gem only once in a piece of equipment.

It is common to use more gems to enhance the appearance of. The jewels also improve performance and create an outer layer that is more durable than metal so that repeated friction caused by pivots does not cause damage to them.

A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs to enhance the appearance of your shields and weapons. These glyphs offer a small boost and can be freely traded, but they are not guaranteed to be available as loot. Glyphs can be upgraded as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold and a scattered Crystal. Glyphs may also be removed and returned to the inventory. Trinkets are a great way to provide your hero with many small, but useful benefits. They are available in the start-up area as rewards for personal stories or loot. They are also available from vendors and by doing road interaction. They can also be made by jewelers, and then found or purchased at the Trading Post.

The first trinket a player unlocks will be the cloak. It grants a small but useful bonus to movement speed and evasion. After that, they can get amulets, rings, and necklaces in the same manner to the way a player obtains weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment has one upgrade slot that can accept either a universal upgrade or a jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades are smaller and can be used on any device. Jewels cannot be upgraded or replaced and are only compatible with certain trinkets.

These trinkets also grant additional buffs and skills that remain active even when the character is not in combat. This lets a hero be more efficient when they are not active. It can also make up for the absence of good slots in the team or talent tree which are usually filled by the hero's optimal stats.

A good general rule of thumb for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best item upgrader-in-Slot) items that you won't be replacing soon, followed by any items with desirable stats that are less important than the iLevel of the item upgrade to be upgraded. This is true especially if you are looking to upgrade multiple statistics on an item upgrader. It's more beneficial to upgrade a single important stat instead of two subpar ones.

Jungle players often upgrade their yellow trinkets to a red trinket at the beginning of the game. Mid and top players, on the other hand they will select a pink or green ward, based on the matchup. These choices can impact a hero's ability to control the map.

Aside from the items mentioned above, players can discover a variety of other items in the form of awards and trophies. These can be obtained by completing certain milestones within the story.
