Pokemon GO Upgrade Items and Components

An upgrade item is an item that makes certain Pokemon change. The Upgrade can be obtained by spinning a PokeStop's photo disc and can be given as a reward at Pokemon GO events.

The Upgrade can also be put in weapons, armor trinkets, and gathering tools to increase the level of their item. The upgrade costs Flightstones and crests, based on the item type.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be placed into armor, weapons trinkets, trinkets, or gathering tools to give bonus effects or attributes while the equipment is being utilized. There are exceptions for glyphs (which can only be inserted into gathering tools) and enchantments, which are able to be removed and put back in.

Insignias or enchantments, as well as prefix/suffix upgrades will appear in the hover display of the item upgrading while they will be added to the equipment's name (e.g. the word Radiant Insignia will change the name to Radiant Tyrian Armor). The number of upgrade components added to an item will be visible in the tooltip of the item.

Glyphs

Glyphs are special characters that can be inserted into an OpenType font to add functional or decorative elements like ligatures, ornaments, fractions and swashes registered trademark symbols and ellipses. The Glyphs panel lets you view and insert these special characters as well as regular glyphs like em dashes and en dashes, registered trademark symbols and glyphs that don't appear in other fonts (such as dingbats).

Each Glyph provides a character with a boost in primary stats. It also comes with up to four Secondary Stats that affect the radius of the glyph on your Paragon Board. Secondary Stats are a %-increase that is multiplied when other bonuses have been applied in addition to Speed Glyphs which directly increase the speed of the hero.

Selecting the Glyphs and clicking "enchant" will activate the Glyphs. This will display a window with the Glyphs that are available to you. Note that only the right kind of Glyph can be applied to the selected item upgrades in that every weapon, jewelry or armor piece may have an array of different Glyphs.

You can upgrade your Glyphs by working through Tree of Whisper Quests or Nightmare Dungeons. The more challenging the dungeon, the higher the amount of Glyph experience that you will get. Once a Glyph is at level 15, it can be upgraded by the Glyph Upgrade Altar. The radius of the Paragon Board increases by one node for every 15 levels at which a Glyph is upgraded.

Once a Glyph has been elevated to the desired level You can activate it by selecting it and then pressing the "enchant" button. The Glyph you create will provide its stated benefit, and will also boost all other nodes in its radius on the Paragon Board. It is important to place glyphs where they can best benefit your game, which is why it's a good idea to prioritize Magic Glyphs early on. Rare glyphs may also offer double bonuses when certain conditions are satisfied.

If you're having difficulty finding a specific glyph, click the cycle widget on the Glyphs panel to show the panel in a variety of different views. Each of these views will display the Glyphs using a different font. You can narrow the selection of glyphs further by selecting an option beneath "Entire Font": for instance, punctuation shows only punctuation glyphs; Math Symbols narrows the choice to mathematical symbols.

Rerolling

Sets

Upgrades can bring popular items from single sets up to the same level as those in higher-level sets. For example, upgrading Guillaume's Face Helm to Elite Spired Helm increases the defense from 217 to 321 while reducing the strength requirement and level requirement to a more manageable range.

However it's important to remember that not all set items are suitable candidates for upgradation. Certain sets, like the FB Sorc spec Whistan's shield and Naj's puzzler staff, are already exceptional in their own right and don't require upgrading. On the other hand, certain items that are BiS and have a lot of use (like Goldwrap) may benefit from being upgraded to improve their performance. It may be worth it to upgrade these items.
