Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to upgrade their weapons and gear with new affixes that boost its base stats or providing additional benefits. To upgrade an item, a player has to have it in their inventory, as well as access to the kiln.

Typically objects that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base, while items with strong bases like eth titans do not vary in their stats following being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, trinkets and gathering tools, giving an added bonus or impact when the equipment is in use. They can be bought from vendors, found as loot by enemies, or obtained from missions and chests. Certain upgrades can also be equipped with special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a specific level to upgrade.

To upgrade an armor, weapon or other item in the game, the player will need to select it and then click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. The preview will appear on the right side of the screen, showing what the expected upgrade statistics will be and also the necessary material or component needed to make that happen.

There are three types of upgrade components including universal upgrades, prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, like gems, can be used on any kind of equipment. They offer a lower bonus than upgrade components that are subject to a type restriction. Infusions are only placed in gear that is ascended and legendary equipment, are the same as gems, but offer higher bonuses and are not able to be placed in any other type of equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They will add the suffix at the end of the names of items. For instance adding the suffix Glyph would make a Staff wrapping of Minor Vigor a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If a player upgrades a gathering tool and replaces glyphs with another glyph the old one will be returned to their inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component will destroy it, excluding inscribed glyphs that can be swapped.

Leveling

The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant variations from previous versions. Gear is now divided into tracks and items can be upgraded a certain number of times before they're "leveled out." The cost of upgrading increases with each level, however the materials required for upgrades do not. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a few essential items and maximize their impact, instead of spreading the upgrade costs across multiple pieces.

This will enable the item to receive new upgrade components and a greater chance of success. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Power and it will reset to zero after failure or increases if the upgrade succeeds.

After a piece has been upgraded to its maximum level, it can receive the affixes needed to enhance its abilities. The number of affixes that are available is determined by the item's class. Each upgrade step requires a specific number of Flightstones or Crests, based on whether the item is at its current level and what slot it is located in. Weapons typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an item does not reach its maximum level, the NPC grants the player the option to transfer it to a new character and re-infuse the item with a different set or upgrades. This procedure can take as long as two hours and cost the same amount of materials. However, it has a lower chance of success.

Engineers will use a level in order to measure the height of the building to a known point, like the benchmark. This is known as a "level loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method ensures that structures are built to the highest degree of precision and security.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is an important aspect of the game and can drastically improve an item's strength, damage, or other attributes. You can do this via the menu for items or by pressing the Reroll button whenever you upgrade an item. Rerolling an item can be costly and should be handled with care.

Reroll tokens are derived by recycling upgraded items. These tokens are then used to upgrade the original item or an similar item. Recyclable items have an indicator that indicates the level of upgrade. The amount of level that has been filled is based on the rarity and the upgrade cost of the item.

In the past, some upgrade items had priority affixes that made them easier to roll for than others. This meant that you would be able to get the stats that were important most to your build often than other. This included stats such as the armor's total armour, thorns and control impaired duration reduced stats or the weapons' bonus attack speed and crit strike chance.

This has changed since the latest patch. Priority affixes were removed, and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling for each stat. This can be a good or a bad thing, dependent on your needs and wants from your equipment.

Each upgraded item can be equipped with a special fixed-value bonus that boosts its power by a certain percentage. These bonuses are added to regular affixes. The more you improve a product, the better the chance of receiving the bonus of a different kind.

The game also comes with several sets, which grant a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are installed on an Best item upgrader. This is a great method to add lots of power to a particular character without spending a lot of money.

Many players reroll their weapons and gear particularly in the initial stages. Rerolling is a way to get a more powerful character faster, which allows you to progress in the game and attain higher levels.

Sets

Sets are collections of elements that can be arranged in a variety of ways. They could be of various dimensions, have none of the elements, or contain one element. Another reason for upgrading certain items is to bring them into parity with their tiers. The Immortal King Set, for instance, comes with a wide range of levels ranging from 29 to 75. Upgrades to lower-level items can increase their defense and increase their competitiveness when it comes to damage.

To see if an item is worth upgrading, players can click the Upgrade button on the screen of their character. The attributes of the item will be displayed together with any required items. To upgrade the No-mouth face, for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also check the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.

In general, weapons and armor are more valuable when they are fully updated. Particularly for weapons with damage glyphs that are spell-like or weapon-related and are upgraded to gold is recommended because it will result in a significant improvement in their stats. This will also increase the defense of armor with an updated look.
