1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. This makes the i3+ a good option for those who want an automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but aren't afraid of having to empty their dust bin manually when it fills up.

Both robots are proficient in removing dirt and dust particles on carpets and hard floors and are able to move around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes smart maps of your home that help the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. However unlike the i7+ and other top-rated robots that we evaluated the i3+ does not have any obstacle-avoidance features, so it may get stuck on things like socks or power cords and it may have trouble in navigating through transitions between surfaces like from hardwood to rug.

iRobot recommends clearing areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, and include putting away any toys or clutter it might encounter. It's also recommended to keep the dust bin and filter clear so they do not become blocked by dirt. The i7+ is quicker and more agile in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also picked up large pet hair pieces from all surfaces including carpeting. Its greatest advantage over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin that removes major maintenance sources and reduces recurring cost.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot on how to start, stop, or pause cleaning sessions, as well as to move around the room and even vacuum a specific area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and straightforward using the iRobot Home app. Once connected, to give voice commands to the i7+ such as "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The main drawback of the V10 is its short running time. Its claims on the market that it can last up to 60 minutes of running time are misleading, as CR's testing shows. Its flat front makes it possible to reach corners and the edges of walls.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt technology to avoid obstacles and navigate your home. It's not equipped with the ability to map that is found in more advanced models, such as our top picks, i3+EVO and the j7+ Series. It is prone to getting stuck on cords for phones or furniture that is low and often runs out of power before returning to its original location.
