WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. A random extra substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item upgrader kit will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create the enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every couple of weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.

The cost of upgrading will be based on the current level of the gear being upgraded, but will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar Best item upgrader, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade tools, armor, weapon and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them from item upgraders NPCs for various currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor with a button, which will display an item's preview at the next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the item slot and the current item level, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. Once an Item Level Upgrade is upgraded to a certain amount, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

Upgraders for items can be found at many locations on the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and the chance to obtain a new recipe. The upgrade discount increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.

Using these new currencies isn't that difficult however, the system does introduce some changes to the overall upgrade process. When a piece attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This change lets players upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible on all of their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another important modification is that crests have one purpose and it's crucial to use them properly. For instance, it's a good idea to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the Best item upgrader equipment available and save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan to create. This is particularly applicable to trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character, which will only be able to benefit from the account-wide discount if all of the slots are filled with top-quality equipment.
