Item upgrading allows players to upgrade their weapons and gear with new affixes that boost its base stats or adding additional perks. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory and access the kiln.

Upgrade components

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade system differs from the previous versions in a few key ways. Gear is now categorised in tracks, and each item upgrader is able to be upgraded a certain number of times before it is "leveled out."
