World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can increase the value of armors, weapons and rings. Upgrades also boost bonuses like Crit chance and damage from PvE.

For instance a weapon that has the upgrade template that is ending in % will take on an attack damage of 3% each time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases with the item level upgrade's level.

Components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into weapons, armor and trinkets to give them a stat boost or to add an additional effect. They can be acquired through crafting, buying from vendors trading, or looting. Certain upgrades have unique cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components are only available to equipment that has a slot. The item must be at least upgraded to blue level before the component can be used. Upgrade components, unlike other modifications, can only be applied only once. They are not able to be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and enrichments are a kind of upgrade component used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or ascending equipment, as other items that are not ascended. Infusions and Enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment that is ascended or completing a quest in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade can have a prefix or suffix changing the name of the equipment to the upgrade (for instancethe "Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, allowing players to create stronger versions using the smallest amount of upgrade crystals than they need to reach the same level using standard methods.

A 'boost upgrade' can alter the attack or defense attributes of a weapon or armor. These upgrades can be made from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanical. They can also be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear or buying them from the cash store for 500 upgrade crystals.

The player can have the maximum of five boost upgrades at one time. Each upgrade increases the chance that a better-quality version of the item will appear at the time of the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to continue improving their equipment even if they're uncertain of how much it will improve after a future reset.

The process of upgrading an item could be costly, and it is possible that the item upgrader mod will eventually become obsolete or even break if the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed if the upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to minimize or eliminate the chance of failure. Some upgrades also offer the player a bonus if they are reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade elements which can be put in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs increase the power of all nodes in a radius around them, including pre-existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in a variety of ways. We recommend upgrading them as quickly as possible up to 15 levels.

In the final game you'll find that the best way to improve your equipment is to use Glyphs. These are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded up to level 15 and provide an enormous boost to your power on the Paragon Board.

The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced but Glyphs are the only upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without restriction. The only exception is legendary equipment that requires a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and replace.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it in your inventory. You can replace it with another Glyph with the same rank, or a higher rank, which will increase the value of the Glyph.

Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of the Gem Store bundle or purchase the glyphs with certain tools that allow unlimited use as well as during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt has a chance to drop one of the numerous Glyphs as well as some rare glyphs that can be found as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs you'll need them to be placed on your equipment. Each Glyph will grant a distinct bonus that will boost the stats of a specific set of nodes within a radius around the Glyph. Based on the Glyph, this will either be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

Utilizing Glyphs Glyph will boost all the nodes that are linked to it, and you should aim to place your Glyphs near key nodes on the Graph to maximize the impact. Druids, for example, should place their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They may be able to place them near their primary damage nodes.

Leveling

The item upgrade system allows players to boost the stats of specific items by inserting upgraded components. This is known as "upping". Each upgradeable item has an amount that determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be upgraded up to a maximum level of 385. Each level requires a different amount of components to reach and the costs for upgrading increase as the item is advanced in level.

Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained from completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be bought from NPCs, or on the upgrade tab in crafting tables. Each Upgrade Recipe completed will result in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to upgrading an item. When enough points have been earned, you will be eligible to claim the upgrade and also receive the bonuses.

When a player upgrades an item it is replaced by a new item of the same type. The same armor will receive the form of a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will come with a bonus of its own. This can be a downside since the item may be more expensive even if you don't require it.

Upgrades to items can be rerolled, if the player has enough reroll tokens to do so. The item will be replaced by an entirely new item that is based on a level 1 base and totally different bonuses. This is useful for some items, but it shouldn't be done regularly, as it can use up a lot of resources.

Some upgrades can increase their value and allow players to personalize their equipment. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it provides an increase in power if the player is repeatedly in or leaves the water. The item can be upgraded several times and increases the maximum roll each time by 10 increments. This item can be extremely valuable in PvP, as a perfectly rolled version of it can be worth between 20 and 50 times its value without being upgraded.

Requirements

Item upgrading allows players to upgrade the quality of their equippable equipment--armor, weapons, and trinkets that are above ilvl 385 by presenting the appropriate items and currency to an item upgrader NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also improve the strength of their base defense and weapon upgrades items increase the damage they deal as well as the required strength and dexterity.

All items can be upgraded up to five times, except for hero equipment, which is able to be upgraded eight times. Each time you upgrade an object it has a chance of failing. The failure rate increases as you go over the maximum number. Failures will cause the item to go to its initial state, which will force the user to spend more money on materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the maximum amount of upgrades.

If an item does not upgrade the amount of experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. The item upgrades also loses any bonuses it gained, such as crit chance, attack damage, or additional effects (such as a higher healing rate over time, or the speed of reloading). The player will be able to use their weapon or armor even after the failure.

When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that when a weapon is upgraded, if it gains a crit chance increase it will be applied before any damage to attack increases. A new attribute known as Slots has been added to the item definition and the value is computed each time an upgrade is made.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating and number of upgrade slots. The upgrade cost for non-premium products is equal to the base value of the upgrade--for instance, a typical equipment item could have five upgrades at a cost of 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero quality items will have an incredibly lower cost for each additional upgrade.

Premium items may have different upgrade requirements than normal equipment. For instance they may require fewer sowels, but more minerals and orons. Players will still have to take every piece of equipment they wish to upgrade to NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. In addition to the upgrade costs listed above, each equipment upgrade requires an individual amount of ingredients for upgrading.
