Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The ability to upgrade items allows players to enhance their weapons and gear with new affixes that boost its stats base or adding additional perks. To upgrade items, the player must have the item upgrade in their inventory, and also access the kiln.

Typically objects with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base while objects with strong bases, such as eth titans do not vary much in their stats after being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, trinkets and gathering tools, providing an added bonus or impact when the equipment is used. They can be purchased from vendors, or found in loot, dropped by enemies, or obtained as rewards from missions or chests. Certain upgrades come with additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a specific level to upgrade.

To upgrade the quality of a weapon, armor or other item in the game, the player will have to select it and then click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will show a preview on the right side of the screen showing what the expected upgrade stats will be and also the necessary element or material required for the upgrade to take place.

There are three kinds that are universal upgrades (which include gems), prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, which include gems, can be put in any kind of equipment and offer less bonuses than upgrade components that are restricted to a specific type. Infusions are gems that can only be used in legendary and ascended equipment. They provide the same bonuses as jewels, but they cannot be used in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades that can be put in gathering tools, include their name at the end of the name of the item they are connected to, for example adding the word Glyph to the Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would transform it into a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.

In the case of upgrades for gathering tools If a player replaces one glyph by another, the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. If you replace another upgrade component, it will be destroyed, with the exception for the inscriptions that can be freely swapped.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade system differs from previous versions in several important ways. Gear is now broken down into tracks and items can be upgraded a set number of times before they're "leveled out." The cost for upgrades increases with each level up however, the materials needed do not increase as much. This allows players to focus their efforts on a few key items and maximize their impact, instead of spreading cost of upgrades across several items.

Once an item has been leveled out and is leveled out, it will be able to receive an upgrade set of components, as well as an increase in the likelihood that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Energy and it is reset to 0 after failure or increases if the upgrade is successful.

Once a piece of gear is upgraded to its highest level, it will be able to receive affixes that will enhance its capabilities. The number of affixes available will depend on the type of item it is. This procedure can take as long as two hours, and costs the same amount of materials. However it has a lower rate of success.

Engineers may employ a level to compare the height of the building with a known point, like the benchmark. This method is known as a "level loop." It involves taking readings with the backsight rod and the level and then turning the level to make the foresight rod reading. Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. To determine if a product is worth upgrading, players must click the Upgrade button on the screen for their character. The item's attributes will be displayed, along with any required items. To upgrade the No-mouth Face for instance, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also check the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.

In general, weapons and armor have higher value when fully updated. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons with spells or glyphs that damage weapons. This will result in a significant increase in their performance. This will also boost the defense value of armor with a newer appearance.
