Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The best method to upgrade your equipment in Path of Exile is through item upgrades. This lets you upgrade your gear without having rely on expensive trades or drops. This article will show you how to upgrade your gear.

Upgrades to equipment provide a bonus to the item upgrader kit's base stats. The amount of bonus varies according to the rarity and strength of the upgrade component.

Components

Upgrade components make your armour and weapons stronger. They can be obtained by the destruction of enemies, finding them in item spheres, or buying them from karma merchants. You can also salvage them from equipment containing the components or through high-end salvage kits like Black Lion Salvage Kit and Ascended Salvage Tool. Upgrade components aren't destroyed by removing them from an item.

Upgrade components are typically used to upgrade an item upgrader mod but they can also be used for other purposes. They can be stacked to increase the level of an upgradeable item, or they can be used to increase the amount of experience gained from upgrading an existing weapon or piece of equipment. They can also be forged to provide extra bonuses. A crafted glyph can increase the chance of upgrading its target while a boost upgrade increases the attack or defense attributes of a weapon.
